The Star Tribune did a nice feature last week about the 21 Hop + Shop program, which can be found online here. Our thanks go out to everyone who was interviewed and contributed to the article, and to Chris Serres at the Star Tribune for putting it all together. Remember, take the bus down Lake Street, show your pass to any of the over 80 participating businesses, and start saving! The numbers from this year's Phillips CleanSweep are in: it disposed of 26,860 pounds of debris and 243 tires! Congratulations to everyone involved in making CleanSweep a success.
There is an upcoming open house meeting in the area about the proposed Southwest Transitway light rail line that would connect downtown Minneapolis to the western suburbs, and end in Eden Prairie. One proposed route for this line would be to go down Lake Street from Hennepin Ave. to Nicollet Ave. before turning north to reach downtown. The open house meeting will take place at 3101 Bryant Ave. S. (Bryant Square Park) from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 24. To hear more about the project, and to give your input, plan on attending!
Along with the end of the construction period from 21st to 14th Avenues, Metro Transit is planning to resume service on Lake Street between 13th and 22nd Avenues this Friday, October 20th, at 9 AM.
