- We've started pulling together the big ticket items for our
wine tasting & silent auction fundraiser on November 12.
One of our premier items this year is a Vikings
football helmet autographed by rookie wide receiver Percy Harvin.
A first round draft pick from the University of Florida,
Harvin has already scored two touchdowns on receptions from Brett

- Congratulations to Noelia Urzua-Vazquez,
co-owner of La Loma Tamales, for being selected for the Entrepreneur
of the Year Award by the Nation Association for Community College
Entrepreneurship.
- For a week in October, the City of Minneapolis will offer
in-person assistance every day on starting a business in Minneapolis,
available financing, site selection, and employment and training
assistance for the city’s business community. After that time,
assistance will continue to be offered one day a week at the
Minneapolis Development Review service center. For more information,

looking to fill several volunteer job positions, such as
Development Specialist, Donor Prospect Researcher, and Memorial/Tribute
Program Coordinator. Volunteering with CAPI will give you experience
working with a diverse and international population, an opportunity to
be part of the process for social change, and a chance to learn more

- In the Heart of the Beast has tickets on sale now for their very
popular La Natividad play, happening this December 10-20.
Tickets sell out early so get yours now! HOBT also now has their Saturday
puppet shows for kids ongoing, and will present a new mainstage
show starting November 6.
- Bay Street Shoes & Accessories has announced that on
October 29, 2009, they will celebrate the
grand opening of their newly expanded location in Calhoun Square.
"A 25-year tenant of Calhoun Square, they are the single longest
standing tenant within the shopping center. The new location is on the
1st floor atrium nearest the Famous Dave’s BBQ and Blues entrance."

Cullman, and dancers Erin Sheppard and Inimitable Feets. Other

From October 22-24, 2009, Intermedia Arts will host Singing the
Legacy
of Sekou Sundiata: The America Project Twin Cities, a series of
community events including Brown Bag Dialogues, Citizenship Dinners, a
Film Screening, Potluck Dinner and Community Sing, all designed to
inspire and ignite our passionate ideals around citizenry, civic work,
and active engagement in civic life.

Immigration Matters is a site specific artistic and community based art
