Announcements:

  • Lake Street Council's Wine & Beer Tasting and Silent Auction event is taking place next week! Here is a sample of the over 100 items up for grabs in the silent auction: A Blackberry, tickets to Vikings and Timberwolves games, a sweater from Ingebretsen's (as well as a "Basket of Moose Things"), gift certificates to many Lake Street restaurants, tickets to our Lake Street theaters, lunch with your favorite local politician, and much much more! So be sure to come and show your support for Lake Street Council while bidding on items that catch your eye and sampling the over 30 varieties of wine and beer that will be available.
  • The street is back open to four lanes on Lake Street from 21st to 14th Avenues, with some work on and around the sidewalk still underway, and expected to be complete in early 2007. The segment from Hiawatha to 37th Avenues will be open to four lanes by mid-November.

  • A clarification from last week: the proposed LRT-C option for the light rail line, that would run from Eden Prairie to downtown Minneapolis, would go down the Midtown Greenway, about a block north of Lake Street, before turning north around Nicollet Avenue. As a reminder, the meeting to discuss that light rail line is taking place tonight (Tuesday), from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at 3101 Bryant Ave. S. (Bryant Square Park).
