Lake Street Council's Wine & Beer
Tasting and Silent Auction event is taking place next week! Here is a
sample of the over 100 items up for grabs in the silent auction: A Blackberry,
tickets to Vikings and Timberwolves games, a sweater from Ingebretsen's (as
well as a "Basket of Moose Things"), gift certificates to many Lake Street
restaurants, tickets to our Lake Street theaters, lunch with your favorite
local politician, and much much more! So be sure to come and show your support
for Lake Street Council while bidding on items that catch your eye and
sampling the over 30 varieties of wine and beer that will be
available.

The street is
back open to four lanes on Lake Street from 21st to 14th Avenues, with some
work on and around the sidewalk still underway, and expected to be complete in
early 2007. The segment from Hiawatha to 37th Avenues will be open to four
lanes by mid-November.

A clarification from last week: the proposed LRT-C option for the
light rail line, that would run from Eden Prairie to downtown Minneapolis,
would go down the Midtown Greenway, about a block north of Lake Street, before
turning north around Nicollet Avenue. As a reminder, the meeting to discuss
that light rail line is taking place tonight (Tuesday), from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at
3101 Bryant Ave. S. (Bryant Square Park).
