The Latest on Lake:
- Great auction items keep coming in for our wine tasting
& silent auction fundraiser on November 12. Just recently we've
picked up signed photos of Minnesota Twins great Harmon
Killibrew and Brazilian soccer star Ronaldinho, a foosball table,
and several paintings and photo art from very talented local
artists. Reserve

- The Twin Cities Daily Planet has a new inside look at A Path
Home: A Story of Thich Nhat Hanh, Masanari Kawahara's one-man
puppet show opening at In the Heart of the Beast Theatre on
November 6. " The soft-spoken Masanari Kawahara
knows it takes a special talent to convince an audience that a puppet
is more than just a hodgepodge of paper, paste and paint. 'As a
puppeteer,' he says, 'my job is to make this object come to life.' "
- Heavy Table recommends Longfellow
Grill's pumpkin pancakes as one of their top pumpkin
treats in the Twin Cities. "Lightly sweet with pumpkin as the
prevailing flavor, they are complemented by a dollop of almond whipped
cream."
- And Rick Nelson at the Star Tribune praises Plaum Farms' celeriac root,
which he found on a visit to the Midtown Farmers' Market.
There's just one regularly scheduled Market left this year, on October

Kids in costumes are invited to venture throughout the Market and load
up their trick-or-treat bags with candy from participating MGM stores
and restaurants. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the free, family-friendly
live entertainment from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Market’s Central
Plaza.

Farmers' Market

The
last regularly scheduled Market of the year! All
products are sold to you direct from MN and WI farmers,
producers, and artists. The market offers a bounty of fruits,
vegetables, flowers, plants, cheese, meat, bread, and other delicious
local foods, as well as handmade soaps, greeting cards, jewelry, and
much more. The Market accepts Visa, Mastercard, EBT, FMNP, and SFMNP.

November 4th: Public Hearing Regarding Amendments to
Ordinances Regulating Wine Licenses

On Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at 1:00 P.M. or shortly thereafter, the
Public Safety and Regulatory Services Committee of the Minneapolis City
Council will consider amendments to Chapter 363.10, regulating the
entertainment allowed with Wine Licenses. You are invited to be present
at the public hearing to express your opinion or inform this office of
your approval or disapproval of the proposed amendments in writing.

"This intimate performance explores the life and work of Thich Nhat
Hanh, the Vietnamese monk, poet, and peace activist. In the hands of
master visual storyteller Masanari Kawahara, eloquent puppets weave an
interpretation of the man and his teachings in this new production."
