October 30th: "Saved" Author Discussion, at Magers & Quinn
7:30 PM, 3038 Hennepin Ave. S.
Twin Cities journalist Karin Winegar discusses Saved: Rescued Animals and the Lives They Transform, a collection of 28 true stories from coast to coast about people healing the damage done to animals and how animals heal suffering humans--with outstanding and moving photographs by Judy Olausen.

October 30th: Halloween Family Night, at Midtown Global Market
5:00 - 8:00 PM, 920 E. Lake St.
Kids in costumes are invited to venture throughout the Market and load up their trick-or-treat bags with candy from participating MGM stores and restaurants. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the free, family-friendly live entertainment from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Market’s Central Plaza.

October 31st: Midtown Farmers' Market
8:00 AM - 1:00 PM, 22nd & Lake
The last regularly scheduled Market of the year! All products are sold to you direct from MN and WI farmers, producers, and artists. The market offers a bounty of fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants, cheese, meat, bread, and other delicious local foods, as well as handmade soaps, greeting cards, jewelry, and much more. The Market accepts Visa, Mastercard, EBT, FMNP, and SFMNP.

October 31st: Tonight We Abide: The 2nd Annual Big Lebowski Party, at Bryant Lake Bowl
8:00 PM, 810 W. Lake St.
"We’re celebrating Halloween the best way we know how... Our 2nd Annual party paying tribute to the Worlds best bowling movie, The Big Lebowski. So join us for a masquerade-bowling tournament, free movie screenings, DJ Christian Fritz spinning tunes from the Coen Brothers film catalog, karaoke, a costume contest, and loads of prizes. Come dressed as your favorite character from the movie and drink some Dude-a-reenos as we pay tribute to the Dude, Walter, Donny, and of course Jesus. No cover."

November 4th: Public Hearing Regarding Amendments to Ordinances Regulating Wine Licenses

On Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at 1:00 P.M. or shortly thereafter, the Public Safety and Regulatory Services Committee of the Minneapolis City Council will consider amendments to Chapter 363.10, regulating the entertainment allowed with Wine Licenses. You are invited to be present at the public hearing to express your opinion or inform this office of your approval or disapproval of the proposed amendments in writing.

A new multidisciplinary performance event creating passageways across art forms, cultures, aesthetics, borders, and traditions.

Beginning November 6th: A Story of Thich Nhat Hanh, at In the Heart of the Beast Theatre
1500 E. Lake St.
"This intimate performance explores the life and work of Thich Nhat Hanh, the Vietnamese monk, poet, and peace activist. In the hands of master visual storyteller Masanari Kawahara, eloquent puppets weave an interpretation of the man and his teachings in this new production."

Through November 14th: Elijah's Wake, at Open Eye Figure Theatre
506 E. 24th St.
First created in 2003, Michael Sommers revisits this groundbreaking work to be staged in the Open Eye Theatre. Score by Anthony Gatto. “…a piece of art the stimulates through visual action, this is an extraordinary work.” -- Star Tribune

November 14th: Resource Center of the Americas Fundraising Gala

November 21st: 20th Annual Coffee Festival, at Calhoun Square
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3001 Hennepin Ave. S.
Your $9 admission gives you access to all sampling as well as a commemorative mug, admission to comedy shows, live music, a tea room and coffee cupping lessons. Proceeds from this even benefit Second Harvest Heartland.
