The Latest on Lake:
- This is your last chance to pre-purchase
tickets for our annual wine tasting and silent this Thursday.
At the end of the day today, pre-purchasing will close, but you can
always also buy at the door during the event itself! We have
eight tables of wine, beer and coffee and over 180 silent auction items
this year, and it's a great place to network with local business owners
and officials!
- Tune into KARE 11 news Thursday evening (the 12th)
for a special report featuring Uptown Pawn at 301 W. Lake St.
The TV station did a secret shopper report on the current gold rush,
and who's paying the most and why, and Uptown Pawn was #1 for best
price.
- Check out two stories about In the
Heart of the Beast's new mainstage show A Path Home.
MPR paid
a visit before opening day, and the Pioneer Press joined the
audience and filed a review this weekend. A Path Home plays
for two more weekends, ending November 22.
- Hennepin County has officially
selected route 3A for the proposed Southwest LRT line, which would
run through the Kenilworth corridor on its way between Eden Prairie and
downtown Minneapolis.

A collection of Irish misfits lay their cards - and their souls - on
the table in this tale of a poker game played on Christmas Eve. A
wonderful exploration of passion, provocation, and the potential for
redemption, The Seafarer showcases one of today's greatest
storytellers, and an all-star cast of local favorites.
November 14th: "Growing Up Dead" Author Discussion, at Magers

Peter Conners discusses his memoir Growing Up Dead. This story
of being a Deadhead isn’t one frequently told. He provides riveting
insight into the obsessive fandom that made the Grateful Dead the most
successful touring band of all time—and a true cultural phenomenon.
November 14th: Global Chili Cook-Off, at
Midtown

Chili connoisseurs are invited sample 13+ types of chili made by
Midtown Global Market business owners. Visitors can cast their vote for
the “Public’s Choice Award” by selecting their favorite chili. The
competition will be hot as challengers try to unseat last year’s
winner, Safari Express. Free recipes will be available too! A $3
donation is suggested and all proceeds will benefit Perspective’s Kids
Café program.

Cufe Smallhill (Cody Lightning), a Seminole-Cree from Oklahoma, finds
his father dead beside a bottle of pills, he fulfills his promise to
sink the body in the family pond. The action begins, leading Cufe to
the big city of Tulsa with his sister Miri (Tamara Podemski) and soon
discovers an entire world opening up.

Crime affects small businesses. Of the crimes that can occur, robbery
is one that can take a large emotional and financial toll on the owner
and employees. Crime Prevention Specialists from 3rd and 5th Precincts
in the Minneapolis Police Department would like to invite all small
business owners in south Minneapolis to a robbery prevention meeting.
