The Latest on
Lake:
- For all the
essentials to make your Thanksgiving meal complete, look no
further than Lake Street. Tomorrow, Wednesday the 21st from 2:00 - 5:00 PM, Midtown Farmers'
Market will open, featuring local breads, squash, pumpkins,
potatoes, eggs, apples honey, and more. And at Midtown Global Market,
visit the Produce
Exchange and Farm in the Market for
fresh cranberries, herbs and seasonings, bread cubes and chicken sausage for
stuffing, heavy cream for making whipped cream, frozen hand made apple
pies...the list just goes on!
- Construction
season in the west segment of Lake Street is scheduled to
come to a close tomorrow, with buses returning to their normal routes
starting at noon that day. Remember to think of businesses on Lake Street for
your shopping, dining, and entertainment! Help them celebrate the end of the
2007 construction season by dropping in
yourself.
- This
year, Uptown is really set to get into the holiday spirit. In
a program sponsored by the Uptown
Association, participating businesses will be decorating
their storefront windows for the holiday season. The decorations will
then be judged, with the winners announced on December 14th.
Council Member Ralph Remington and our executive director Joyce Wisdom are
among those who have signed up to judge. For any questions, contact the Uptown

businesses interested in participating, the deadline to register is November
26th, so sign up soon!

This
Spanish/English show follows the adventures of Paquito the mailman and his
friend Burrito, who can't resist chocolate. Features traditional Mexican nursery

5th: Dimensions of Indigenous and Mind Fields, at Intermedia
Arts

Mind Fields is an art exhibition
that explores the many dimensions of the invisible and make psychological
realities tangible. Dimensions of Indigenous showcases seven indigenous artists
from around the Twin Cities who use their visual voice to empower, raise
consciousness and organize around indigenous peoples' issues.

January 13th: A Nordic Christmas, at the American Swedish
Institute
2600 Park Ave.
This annual
holiday exhibit features the 100-year-old Turnblad mansion decorated for
Christmas, and highlights traditions of Iceland, Denmark, Finland, Norway and
Sweden with decorated trees and table settings for each Nordic
country.

A colorful, interactive gallery experience that highlights the
connections between people and place in Lake Street's past, present, and
