Today there was a public hearing
on the proposed Southwest
Transitway Light Rail Line. There are two proposals under consideration
that will affect the Lake Street community in different ways. One proposal
(called "A" in the study) passes west of the Lake Street corridor and instead
uses Kenilworth to go to downtown Minneapolis. The other (called "C") uses the
Midtown Greenway to travel through the Uptown and Lyn-Lake areas before
turning north on Nicollet and going through a tunnel. If you would like to
weigh in on this decision, you can send your comments to swcorridor@co.hennepin.mn.us,
or call at 612-348-9260. Public comments are being accepted until a
recommendation is acted upon in
February.
