Speaking of HOBT, Beneath the Surface, episode two of Invigorate the Common Well, is coming soon, February 19th - March 16th. Inspired by this series, the City of Minneapolis is inviting artists to apply to design public art drinking fountains to be installed at seven different locations. This includes a fountain on Lake Street near the Midtown Exchange. All applications must be received by February 22nd at 4:00 PM.

The Lake Street Council's mission is to build a cohesive strategy to ensure the ongoing vitality of the Lake Street Corridor business community.

The Latest on Lake:

At last week's Ninth Ward Awards, Council Member Gary Schiff honored several groups and individuals who made significant contributions to the Lake Street area. The Youth Leader award went to Waite House/St. Paul's Lutheran Youth Civic Engagement Group, who organized and gave their time to create the youth mural at the St. Vincent de Paul at 12th & Lake. Neighborhood Project of the Year went to another muralist group, this one organized by the Corcoran Neighborhood. They created 6 murals last year, including 2 on Lake Street. Citizen of the Year went to Tim Springer, director of the Midtown Greenway Coalition, which has helped to bring many bikers to the Lake Street area. We are all looking forward to the bike center that will be built on the Greenway, at the Midtown Exchange. Julie Ingebretsen was also recognized as a Citizen of the Year nominee for her leadership during Lake Street construction and the value that Ingebretsen's continues to bring to the area.

Out Traveler Magazine recently had a full-page feature of the Lyn-Lake area, highlighting 6 of its many great places to shop, dine, and be entertained: Corner Store, Bryant-Lake Bowl, Jungle Theater, JP American Bistro, Intermedia Arts, and Vera's Cafe.
