Lake Street News Brief
The Lake Street
Council's mission is to build a cohesive strategy to ensure the ongoing vitality
of the Lake Street Corridor business community.
The Latest on Lake:
- We've been seeing lots of interest in our annual
meeting, now just one week away. We ask that if you haven't
pre-registered yet, you do so today, it's as easy as replying to this e-mail
or paying on our website! You won't want to miss our panel of
community development experts, our yearly awards to businesses and
organizations making a difference on Lake Street, and breakfast from Old
Arizona. Pre-registering makes sure that we have an accurate head count to
accommodate everyone who shows up for the event.
- Next week, M&I Bank
celebrates their grand opening at 320 East Lake
Street. They're celebrating the diversity in this new branch by
making it a Taste Around the World Week there. Latin America
will be represented on Monday, followed by Asia, Africa, Taste of the Organic,
and wrapping up with Taste of the World on Friday.
- Hennepin County Juvenile Probation
and the Greater Minneapolis
Council of Churches Community Justice Project
are offering community members to help make a difference with a
free in-depth training on youth mentoring, to help at-risk
teens stay out of trouble. The training is at the GMCC main office at
1001 East Lake Street on March 24th from 5:45 - 8:30 PM and includes a light
dinner. RSVP to Lori Merriewether by calling 612-721-8687 ext. 318, or
e-mailing lmerriewether@gmcc.org.
- City Image Salon in
Uptown is combining business with good deeds by participating in the
Breast Cancer 3-Day. For every "all over color" or "full
foil" they do in March, they're donating a % of the service to the 3-Day.
They're located at 1404 West Lake Street.
