East Segment: Starting March 28 at 9:00 AM, Lake Street buses are rerouted to 31st Street, from West River Parkway to 36th Avenue. The contractor will place traffic barriers later that day, and pavement removal is scheduled for March 29. One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open on Lake Street at all times. Major intersections will remain open although some others will be closed at times during the project. Lake Street businesses are open during construction, and the Transportation Department and Lake Street Council encourage increased customer support of businesses in the construction zones.
Middle Segment: All major work has been completed except for placing the final two inches of pavement from 14th Avenue to 21st Avenue and road striping. That work is to be completed this summer. The contractor also will repair the sidewalk, curb and gutter, and other minor work, as needed.
West Segment: Construction here is scheduled to start in late April or early May, and finish in 2008. Like the east segment, buses will be diverted to 31st Street when Lake is under construction. Current plans have construction happening on Lake Street from Dupont to Bryant, and on Lyndale from 29th Street to 31st Street. Buses normally running on Lyndale will be diverted to Bryant in this area. As in the east segment, be sure to support these businesses as the street in front of them is under construction.
