The Latest on Lake:

  • We missed one person last week and would also like to welcome Courtney Lerdon from Champions Sports Bar & Grill as a new and valuable member of our board of directors. Thanks, Courtney!

  • Mayor Rybak delivered his State of the City address last week, and the full text is now available online. The WorkForce Center at Chicago & Lake featured prominently in the speech, and the mayor also lauded Lake Street as an example of Minneapolis building opportunity in Minneapolis.

  • The Star Tribune's Rick Nelson just reviewed moto-i, the sake brewery restaurant at 2940 Lyndale Ave. The verdict? "You'll be happy at any hour with skillfully crafted bar fare and house-made sake."

  • Also in the Star Tribune, they recommend In the Heart of the Beast's float- and puppet-building workshops as a free and fun spring break activity. The workshops run until April 30th, and the MayDay Parade is coming on May 3rd!

  • If you disagree with the City's assessed value of your property, you must apply by April 3rd to get an appeal before the Board of Appeal and Equalization. Read more and get the application on this City webpage.

  • The City has also created an online form to fill out for people who want to compliment about a Minneapolis Police Department, or submit a complaint about the MPD.

  • MNartists.org has a fun article up about Bill Watkins, a British Isles native who has written several memoirs and can now be found regularly at Merlin's Rest at 36th & Lake.
