Share Your Lake Street Memories With Us
As the first part of a multi-step history project, Lake
Street Council is interested in recording oral histories from
those who can discuss the Lake Street of decades past. For this leg of
the project we're primarily interested in stories that date prior
to 1960. If you or someone you know would make a good participant
for these oral histories, please let us know so we can be in contact
about this exciting new project! Reply to this e-mail or call
612-822-0232. Thank you!
The Latest on Lake:
- It feels like Spring is here, but Lake
Street is looking littered from winter. Please take 30-60 minutes on
one of these beautiful 40+ days to clean the sidewalk and gutter in
front of your business. Remember a cleaner street equals more business.
The litter doesn't encourage your customers to stop and walking through
it doesn't encourage them to buy. Help us help you clean up the street
for all of us. Neighbor to neighbor let's get Lake Street ready for
Spring shoppers.
- Midtown Global Market's Safari Express just made its
appearance on CNN International! The 5 minute video is now
on CNN's website, and it's a must-see.
- Mark your calendar: April 17th (which is also Record Store
Day) is the last day for Hymie's Vintage Records in its
current 33rd & Lake location. It will be moving a few blocks east,
and will open up at 3820 E. Lake St. at the beginning of May. They'll
be in the same building as other businesses like Blue Moon Coffee
Cafe, and Mill City Music will be moving up to the 2nd
floor to make room.
- Coming up on March 14th is Fork
the Fire, where Twin Cities can eat out at various local
restaurants to help raise money for Heidi's and Blackbird, the two
restaurants that burned down in the 50th & Bryant fire.
Participating Lake Street places include Chino Latino, Il Gatto,
Herkimer, Moto-i, The Craftsman, and Burger Jones.
- Congrats to Kitchen Window for winning the Best of
Show Overall award at last month's Food &
Wine Experience.
