Lake Street Calendar -- Upcoming Events:
 
April 24th & 26th: Free Self-Defense / Personal Safety Workshops
2:00 - 3:00 PM on the 24th, 6:30 - 8:00 PM on the 26th
920 East Lake Street (920 East Lake Street, Suite 107 -- northeast corner)

Come and learn how to reduce your chance of becoming a victim. Featuring black belt instructor Mary Brandl, a self-defense expert. RSVP to Renee Allen (612-825-6138)

April 28th: Merlin's Rest Grand Opening
11:00 AM - close, 3601 East Lake Street
Come celebrate the official opening of a new local pub. Ribbon cutting at 6:00 PM with special guests. Located in the former Popeye's building.

 

April 28th: Help Put The "Green" In Midtown Greenway
Kickoff - 9:00 AM, 3120 East 28th Street (Anne Sullivan School)
9:30 AM - Planting begins at four sites: 26th Avenue South, Anne Sullivan School entrance ramp, 30th Avenue South, Brackett Park entrance ramp.

April 28th: Dia del Nino Festival
12:00 - 8:00 PM, 1515 East Lake Street (Mercado Central)
An educational, cultural, artistic, informative and fun festival focusing on youth violence
awareness and celebrating Latino families and Latino youth.

 

Through April 29th: From the Ashes, at Pangea World Theater

7:30 PM Thursday - Sunday, 711 West Lake Street Suite 101

Exploring the global question of migration and movement in a multi-lingual, physically charged performance with live music.

 

May 5th: Midtown Farmers' Market Grand Opening Celebration
8:00 AM - 1:00 PM, 22nd Ave. S. & Lake Street
Featuring local sheep shearer Hank Brummer giving a shearing demonstration at
10:00 AM.

 

Through May 20th: K2, at Jungle Theater
Various times, 2951 Lyndale Ave. S.
Two mountain climbers are trapped on the ledge of a threatening glacial wall 27,000 feet above sea level. It looks as if they will perish before the sun sets. What will they do?

The mayor will talk about public safety and The Minneapolis Promise and also take questions from the audience. Breakfast costs $5.

April 27th: Early Mornings with Elizabeth Glidden: Lori Sturdevant

Lori Sturdevant is a Star Tribune editorial writer and columnist, focusing on state government and politics. Come prepared with questions about what’s happening this year at the Capitol!

May 1st: Good Morning! Minneapolis - The Promise of the Phillips Neighborhood
7:30 - 9:00 AM, 920 East Lake Street (Midtown Global Market)
Featuring a panel who will present their commitment to the Phillips Neighborhood. Hear from Mark Peterson, President and CEO of Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, David Orbuch, President, Phillips Eye Institute and Susan Haas, Producing Director and co-founder of Open Eye Figure Theatre. Members $20, Non-Members $30.

May 9th: LEDC Annual Meeting
5:00 - 8:00 PM, 1516 East Lake Street (Plaza Verde 3rd floor, Celebration Hall)
