With temperatures gradually warming, it's now
possible to start planning for summer, and In the Heart of the Beast's
summer
camps are always a great kids' activity. Children ages 5-14 will
build skills in the visual and performing arts from sculpting and painting, to
acting, singing and stilt-walking. Camps are week-long, Monday through Friday,
with full and half-day options available. The first one comes on June 23rd,
and they go through early August. Register
now to be sure to get the ones you want!
Both Earth Day
and Arbor Day are coming up soon and there
are multiple ways to celebrate and participate on Lake Street. On April 19th,
the Saturday before Earth Day, the Midtown
Global Market will celebrate with
cooking
demonstrations, samplings, children's activities and music, starting at 10:00
AM. They'll highlight ways people can lead greener lives
by making more educated decisions every day about shopping locally, using
earth-friendly products, recycling, and reducing their carbon
footprint.
The next Saturday, April 26th from 9:00 AM - noon,
you can participate in the yearly Arbor Day Greenway
planting. This year it's happening east of Hiawatha
where the Greenway connects to the new bridge. Snacks, coffee, water and
shovels will be provided. To sign up as a volunteer or get more information,
contact the Greenway Coalition at 612-879-0103 or theresa@midtowngreenway.org.
