May 14th: Lake Street Construction Meeting

County & City project staff discuss the latest construction updates and listen and respond to business concerns.

May 14th
: LEDC's 5th Annual Meeting
5:00 - 8:00 PM, 2709 East Lake Street (El Nuevo Rodeo)
Featuring a recognition ceremony of outstanding community entrepreneurs, and dinner. RSVP to 612-724-5332 or info@ledc-mn.org. Tickets are $20 per person.

May 15th: Patio Kick-Off Party, at Longfellow Grill
5:00 - 8:00 PM, 2990 W. River Parkway
With $2 pints of Summit and free brats on the grill.

May 17th
: "The Jump Off" Double Dutch Competition, at Midtown Farmers' Market
10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Lake St. & 22nd Ave.
Eight teams of five young competitors will compete for prizes in best coordination, teamwork & foot skills. Double Dutch is a sport in which one person jumps rope with two ropes and one or more people jumping simultaneously. Presented by Minneapolis Park and Recreation's Youthline Program & Midtown Farmer's Market.

A story of a 12-year-old girl who was in Hiroshima at the age of 2 when the atomic bomb was dropped.

May 27th: Out Rage Us, at Patrick's Cabaret
9:00 PM, 3010 Minnehaha Ave.
"For Out Rage Us! Patrick's Cabaret gathers some of Minnesota's freest spirits, a collaborative show that is political, transgressive, sassy and fun."

Beginning May 30th: The Gin Game, at Jungle Theater

"On the porch of a run down nursing home, cantankerous and somewhat unstable Weller Martin is playing a game of solitaire when he is interrupted by prim Fonsia Dorsey. She joins him for a game of gin rummy and they begin a prickly friendship as they reveal the truths behind the life stories they've created."

May 31st: Lake Street Sidewalks Day
12:00 - 3:00 PM, Lake Street from Chicago to Bloomington
Sidewalk chalk art, lots of business discounts, and lots of dancing, theater, and other entertainment up and down the street!

Every Tuesday: Informational Meetings at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School

7:00 PM, 2924 4th Ave. S.
Cristo Rey welcomes 8th and 9th grade students and their parents to learn more about the school as a possibility for 9th and 10th grades. For appointments call 612-545-9704. A college prep education for students from families of low income. Transportation, financial aid and full scholarships available.
