The Lake Street Council's mission is to build a cohesive strategy to ensure the ongoing vitality of the Lake Street Corridor business community.

Are you currently renting your commercial space and thinking about making the move towards buying and owning space of your own? Then Lake Street Council has the event for you. On Thursday, May 24th, LSC is partnering with US Bank to offer free information sessions about commercial property ownership: the pros and cons, and what to do to make it a reality. Two times are available: 8:00 - 10:00 AM and 5:00 - 7:00 PM. It is being held in the US Bank building at 919 East Lake Street, in the basement conference room. If you would like to come, please RSVP as soon as possible. You can do so either by replying to this e-mail or calling our office at 612-822-0232.
Roberts Shoes just turned 70, and they are having a big sale to celebrate. From now until the end of May, get 20% off everything, including shoes that almost never go on sale. Stop into the store at Lake & Chicago and take advantage!
Fellow Lake Street mainstay Ingebretsen's is having a sale of their own. Their spring sale has been extended until May 19th. Stop by the store or look on their website to see all the deals you can get by shopping there this week.
Merlins Rest recently opened on the corner of 36th & Lake. A restaurant and bar, it hosts weekly events such as a pub quiz, open mic night, and regular musical guests. Be sure to welcome this new addition to East Lake when you get the chance.

Come join Officers and staff at the annual 5th Precinct open house in honor of Law Enforcement Officers Memorial week.

May 18th: MIGIZI Communications' Annual Indian Month Celebration
4:30 - 8:00 PM, 3125 East Lake Street (in the parking lot)
Featuring live music from an Indian jazz & blues band, a cook-out, and games for the kids.

May 26th: Cooking Demonstration at Midtown Farmers' Market
10:00 AM, corner of East Lake Street & 22nd Ave. S.
Chef Mike Phillips of the Craftsman Restaurant will present a cooking demonstration featuring springtime foods. He will apply his trademark style of sophisticated simplicity to dishes featuring wild-foraged foods such as ramps (wild leeks) and watercress, as well as early-season produce: asparagus, greens, etc.

May 30th: Global Trekkers' Walking Club Launch, at Midtown Global Market

7:00 AM, 920 East Lake Street

Walking club membership is free and open to the public; sign up at Golden Thyme Cafe. First 50 people to sign up get a free Global Trekkers' t-shirt, first 250 get a Lake Street pedometer. Mayor R.T. Rybak will be the honorary First Global Trekker.

Starting June 1st: Sacred Beauty: Treasures from Swedish Cathedrals and Churches, at The American Swedish Institute

Opening reception June 1st, 5:00 - 7:00 PM, 2600 Park Avenue

A series of four related exhibits share the experiences of Swedish-American faith traditions. The first is "Sacred Beauty: The Augustana Lutheran Tradition." It includes metalwork, textiles, photographs, documents, furniture and more.

June 2nd & 3rd: Midtown Global Market First Birthday Weekend Celebration

10:00 AM - 8:00 PM, 920 East Lake Street

Free cooking and arts and crafts demonstrations, special offers, drawings and dollar samples. Showcasing the Global Market's finest entertainment and honoring their cultures with an international parade.
