Lake Street News
Brief
The Lake Street
Council's mission is to build a cohesive strategy to ensure the ongoing vitality
of the Lake Street Corridor business community.
Lake Street Council's
next business social is on Friday, May 11th at The Herkimer (2922 Lyndale Ave.
S.), from 12:00 - 2:00 PM. Drop in at any time in those two hours. We hope to
see you there!
Lake Street is Best of the Twin
Cities
Last week, City Pages published its annual Best of the Twin Cities awards, and the
Lake Street area raked in an impressive two dozen of
them.
The Midtown
Exchange project was recognized for Best Rescued Landmark. They
said it "revitalized an urban neighborhood with a stunning array of
multicultural, multi-use tenants." And of course, one very important part of the
building is the Midtown Global Market. Several individual businesses inside were
recognized individually for having the best of what the Twin Cities have to
offer, including West Indies
Soul for Best Soul Food, Holy
Land for Best Middle Eastern Grocery, and A La
Salsa for Best Mexican
Restaurant.
And if that wasn't enough, there is much more to Lake
Street than the food. Looking for good music? Hymie's
Vintage Records is the Best Place to Buy Vinyl, and Cheapo
Records the Best CD store for used CDs. If you'd rather make
your own music, the VFW on
Lyndale has the Best Karaoke around.
All this and more, all on one street! And if you'd
rather bike your way there, the Midtown Greenway
got recognized, for Best Bike Trail.
