The Lake Street Council's mission is to build a cohesive strategy to ensure the ongoing vitality of the Lake Street Corridor business community.

The Latest on Lake:

Lyn-Lake businesses: Promoting construction specials and offering selected discounts during construction periods can be a good way to keep up customer interest while the street in front of you is being torn up. Lake Street Council is interested in helping to get the word out about any specials you would like to offer, including helping to get free press about it in a local paper. If you are offering something now, let us know so we can help you get the word out. If you aren't offering anything yet but this sounds like a good idea, think about what you'd like to offer, then let us know!
Don't forget that on Wednesday of next week you can help out Lake Street Council's neighbors to the north, the Midtown Greenway Coalition. Just shop at the Lake Calhoun Whole Foods that day, at 3060 Excelsior Boulevard, and 5% of your purchase will be donated to the Coalition. If you go from 11:00 - 6:00, stop and chat with Greenway volunteers who will be at the store as well.
Looking for a Lake Street Corridor space to buy or lease? Lake Street Council's property listings webpage may have what you're looking for. Recent additions to the site include listings in the Office and Retail categories. Square feet, building location, and contact information is available. Also, for property owners: we count on you to help keep this information current, so if you have something to add or see a listing of yours that has now been filled, please let us know.
The Star Tribune reported last week that American Apparel will be moving into Uptown at the corner of Lake & Hennepin by August. "Though a national chain, American Apparel tries to infuse each store with local flavor. In some markets, local artists have been brought in to paint murals in the stores; and local rock bands have performed live concerts."

May 26th: Cooking Demostration at Midtown Farmers' Market
10:00 AM, corner of East Lake Street & 22nd Ave. S.
Chef Mike Phillips of the Craftsman Restaurant will present a cooking demonstration featuring springtime foods. He will apply his trademark style of sophisticated simplicity to dishes featuring wild-foraged foods such as ramps (wild leeks) and watercress, as well as early-season produce: asparagus, greens, etc.

May 30th: Global Trekkers' Walking Club Launch, at Midtown Global Market

Walking club membership is free and open to the public; sign up at Golden Thyme Cafe. First 50 people to sign up get a free Global Trekkers' t-shirt, first 250 get a Lake Street pedometer. Mayor R.T. Rybak will be the honorary First Global Trekker.

Starting June 1st: Sacred Beauty: Treasures from Swedish Cathedrals and Churches, at The American Swedish Institute

A series of four related exhibits share the experiences of Swedish-American faith traditions. The first is "Sacred Beauty: The Augustana Lutheran Tradition." It includes metalwork, textiles, photographs, documents, furniture and more.
