Street
Council's
mission
is
to
build
a cohesive
strategy to
ensure
the ongoing vitality of the Lake Street
Corridor
business community.
Events in the coming week on Lake Street include the Lake Street
Rising Fundraiser at Sauce Spirits & Soundbar on the
27th, and the opening reception of the Jerome Emerging Printmakers
Exhibition at Highpoint Center for Printmaking on the 28th.
June 4th: Early Mornings with Elizabeth Glidden
7:30 - 9:00 AM, 4762 Chicago Ave. S. (Turtle Bread)
This fall, voters will elect 5 new Directors to the Minneapolis School
Board, including 3 by district and 2 at-large representatives. Meet
several of the candidates, hear their vision for Minneapolis Public
Schools, and have time for Q&A during this early morning event.
Candidates confirmed to date include: Hussein Samatar, Alberto
Monserrate, T Williams, Dick Mammen, Mohamud Noor, Chanda Smith Baker,
and David DeGrio.

refreshments, talk to neighbors, and learn about homebuyer programs.

June 9th: Fair Hiring Forum: Building a Better Workforce - New
Criminal Records Laws & Policies

Policies that will help develop a stronger, more diverse workforce
while remaining safe and limiting all types of liability;
Why national companies like Home Depot and Accenture are being sued for
NOT hiring people with criminal records;
The potential liability for hiring someone with a criminal record;
New Minnesota laws impacting hiring people with criminal records;
Programs available to help with the placement of people with criminal
records.
