The Latest on Lake:
- We had a lot of
fun at the MayDay Parade & Festival and 27th & Lake's Cinco
de Mayo Celebration this weekend. Check out In the Heart of the Beast's website
for photo galleries of everything MayDay.
- Last week, the City Council voted on
the administrative law judge's recommendations on El Nuevo Rodeo.
They approved the judge's recommendations: a few sanctions, but their
license will not be revoked.
- The reviews are in for Jungle
Theater's new show Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and
they've been overwhelmingly positive. City
Pages called it stunning, intense, and vivid, the Star
Tribune said it had brilliant performances, and the Pioneer
Press said that Jungle's take on the play was "searing" and
"definitive". It runs through this month.
- And congratulations to Michelle
Gayer of the Salty Tart, who represented Lake Street well at the James
Beard Awards. She didn't bring home the Best Pastry Chef award
this year, but we're sure she'll keep baking and be a strong contender
again next year!

The good times on Lake Street are in full gear. We have more
Cinco De Mayo parties inside the Midtown Global
Market on Friday and out on the street at 4th & Lake
on Sunday, an octogenarian
hosting at Patrick's Cabaret this weekend, and a Friday night
opening reception for a new exhibition at Highpoint Center
for Printmaking, just to name a few.
