The Lake Street Council's mission is to build a cohesive strategy to ensure the ongoing vitality of the Lake Street Corridor business community.

The Latest on Lake:

Lyn-Lake construction is now beginning. As a reminder, the current work is being done on Lake Street from Dupont to Bryant, and Lyndale from 29th to 31st. Buses on Lake are rerouted to 31st Street, and buses on Lyndale are rerouted to Bryant Avenue. You can help show your support for Lyn-Lake businesses by joining us for our upcoming Lake Street social. It is happening this Friday from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at The Herkimer, 2922 Lyndale Ave. Construction will be happening on the street in front of The Herkimer, and with your help we can show that it won't keep us from getting to our favorite Lyn-Lake spots. Parking is available in their lot; stop by any time in those two hours.
In the Heart of the Beast Theatre's MayDay Parade took place this past Sunday. It was a great day for a parade and they put on quite a show. Our best pictures from the day are on our website, and this page has more from the goings-on at Powderhorn Park.

Scott Moore's recent documentary about the Sears building/Midtown Exchange, Building at a Crossroads, was just selected by the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission for a Community Education Award. You can watch the whole documentary online here.
So many Lake Street locations won City Pages awards, even we have a hard time keeping track of all of them. Other winners included Smitten Kitten (best store for sex toys) and Intoto (best men's clothing). There were also many other winners in the Readers' Poll, like Fuji-Ya for best Japanese, Bryant-Lake Bowl for best bowling alley, and Peace Coffee for best coffee by the pound.

May 11th & 12th: Deeper Shadows, at Patrick's Cabaret
8:00 PM, 3010 Minnehaha Ave.

Deeper Shadows begins where December's Shadow Cabaret left off. The artists spent two weeks researching the shadows of the holocaust in Berlin and the surrounding area. The works in Deeper Shadows grew out of this trip as the artists probe a bit farther into the darkness.

May 18th: MIGIZI Communications' Annual Indian Month Celebration

Featuring live music from an Indian jazz & blues band, a cook-out, and games for the kids.
