June 11th: Lake Street Construction Meeting
2:00 PM, 105 West Lake Street (Champions)
County & City project staff discuss the latest construction updates and listen and respond to business concerns.


June 13th: Old Arizona Wine Tasting & Silent Auction
5:00 - 8:00 PM, 2821 Nicollet Ave.
Join Old Arizona to sample and learn about a variety of fine California wines. Imported and domestic cheeses and pintxos will be served. $20 per person in advance $25 at the door. Tickets available from their website.

June 14th: Midtown Farmers' Market Cooking Demonstration
8:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Lake St. & 22nd Ave.
Cooking demonstration by TWO Food/Wine/Design.

June 16th: Author Reading at Magers & Quinn
7:30 PM, 3038 Hennepin Ave.
Maggie Jackson discusses her book Distracted: The Erosion Of Attention And The Coming Dark Age. "We have oceans of information at our fingertips, yet we seek knowledge in Yahoo headlines glimpsed on the run. We are networked as never before, but we connect with friends and family via email and fleeting face-to-face moments that are rescheduled a dozen times. Welcome to the land of distraction."

June 17th: Two Chairs Telling, at Open Eye Figure Theatre

Featuring Tom Cassidy, who has performed his written works at 200+ festivals, and Desdamona, the premiere female hip hop and spoken word artist in the Midwest.

June 20th: The Three Nordic Tenors Concert, presented by the Danish American Center
7:30 PM, 3100 W. River Parkway (Minnehaha Academy)
Classical music from the world of opera, operetta, Broadway musicals and Scandinavian folk songs. $25 for members, $35 for non-members. Call 612-242-4372 for any questions.

June 22nd: Global Bike Days, at Midtown Global Market
10:00 AM - 6:00 PM, 920 E. Lake St.
Bike information, family activities, and various entertainment comes to the Market for this bicycling-promoting event. Various vendors will offer "Taste of the Market" specials. The CEPRO site will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2:30 PM to celebrate the newest greenway access ramp, located near the Market.

The Gin Game, at Jungle Theater

"On the porch of a run down nursing home, cantankerous and somewhat unstable Weller Martin is playing a game of solitaire when he is interrupted by prim Fonsia Dorsey. She joins him for a game of gin rummy and they begin a prickly friendship as they reveal the truths behind the life stories they've created."
