The Latest on Lake:
- Congrats to
the Lake Street places that made this year's Star
Tribune Taste 50! This includes Grassroots Gourmet ("features
some of the region's top farm-fresh meat, poultry and dairy products
for convenient one-stop shopping") and Salty Tart ("anything
rhubarb -- cupcakes, bars, free-form tarts"), both inside the Midtown
Global Market, and the Lyndale Taphouse (for their
"standard-setting Pit Beef Sandwich").
- City
Pages talked to Barbette and Town Talk Diner about
their most popular dishes, and their chef's choices for favorites.
Barbette's most popular was "anything fish" and the chef's choice was
the weekly lamb special. For Town Talk, most popular is the Kitchen
Sink Burger and the chef's choice was either the pulled pork sandwich
or the slow-roasted pork shoulder.
- The Pioneer Press just published their
yearly guide to best
patios in the Twin Cities. Lake Street places making this
year's list: Stella's Fish Cafe and moto-i.
- The
MPD has received several recent reports of aggressive unlicensed
door-to-door solicitors. They recommend calling 911 to report any
unlicensed solicitor that comes to a home or business. Contact karen.notsch@ci.minneapolis.mn.us
