Lake Street Parking Meeting on July 24 -- RSVP Today
 
Parking is a big issue for many areas along Lake Street. This meeting will examine the solution from the Lyn-Lake area, where public parking spaces were created, and the lessons other areas along Lake can take from this. Read all the details below, and check out the Lyn-Lake page on our website to read a document on the Lyn-Lake lots that will be a basis for the meeting's discussion. Then make sure to get your RSVP in!

Uptown Art Fair Opportunity
 
The Uptown Art Fair is hosting a children's art program Tomorrow's Stars Seen Today. The program allows children ages 8-18 to showcase their artistic energy, sell their art and keep the profits! Tomorrow Stars Seen Today will be held on August 4 and 5 at Calhoun Square at the corner of Lake and Hennepin Avenue South. Artists can apply online at www.uptownminneapolis.com/art-fair by July 25, 2007. Artist registration is $10 and limited to 20 artists. Paul Zaloom puts his wacky personal stamp on a popular Middle Eastern shadow puppet tradition. This time, Karagoz is a queer, humanist, Arab-immigrant artist refugee who finds himself pursued by Al Qaeda, the Homeland Security Department, the Christian Ex-Gay movement, Israeli and Syrian spies, and Minutemen vigilantes, among others.

"A timeless tale of two souls who meet in the loneliness of 1950's Manhattan."

Through October: Sacred Beauty: Treasures from Swedish Cathedrals and Churches, at The American Swedish Institute

A series of four related exhibits share the experiences of Swedish-American faith traditions. The first is "Sacred Beauty: The Augustana Lutheran Tradition." It includes metalwork, textiles, photographs, documents, furniture and more.
