Lake
Street Council's mission is to build
a cohesive strategy to ensure the ongoing vitality
of the Lake Street Corridor business community.
The Latest on Lake:
- Don't forget to RSVP for our workshop on waste reduction
& energy efficiency. August 13th, 8 - 10 AM, at La Vina
Restaurant at 4th & Lake. Check the website for full details. RSVP

- Two new businesses just opened their doors in the Lyn-Lake
area, Sauce Spirits & Soundbar at 3005 Lyndale Ave. S., and
Jackson's Coffee & Gelato at 822 W. Lake St. And in
Uptown, women's clothing store Drama just moved in at 1203
Lagoon Ave., and was profiled
in the Star Tribune. We welcome them all to Lake Street
- Vote for the Midtown Farmers' Market in Care2's
Love Your Farmers Market giveaway. The market with the most votes
gets a $5000 prize. Then take a minute to share with the world what you
enjoy about the Midtown Farmers' Market!
- On August 11th, the Metropolitan Council will hold a public
information meeting on proposed changes to the Service Availability
Charge (SAC) rules regarding outdoor spaces. The change proposes a
50% discount for certain outdoor spaces, which includes patio seating
for food and drink establishments. See the public
hearings section of their site for all the details and who to
contact.
- The Minneapolis Examiner website looked for great
value cheap date nights in Uptown, and found Bryant Lake Bowl,
Zenos Cafe, and Barbette to have some very
appealing options.
- The Fringe Festival starts on July 30th, and both Bryant
Lake Bowl and Intermedia Arts are playing host to many
performances. Check the Fringe

Kay Kenyon will be signing her many science fiction novels, such as
Bright of the Sky, A World Too Far, and City Without End.

this virtuoso one-woman show about the abiding love between two
families - one black and one white - and the two children that are born

August 1st: Midtown Farmers' Market
8:00 AM - 1:00 PM, 22nd & Lake
All
products are sold to you direct from MN and WI farmers,
producers, and artists. The market offers a bounty of fruits,
vegetables, flowers, plants, cheese, meat, bread, and other delicious
local foods, as well as handmade soaps, greeting cards, jewelry, and
much more. The Market accepts Visa, Mastercard, EBT, FMNP, and SFMNP.
August 1st: Mercado
Central 10th Anniversary
Celebration

Join the Mercado's celebration of 10 years on Lake, which will feature
food, music and art, all free!
August 1st & 2nd: ZRS Fossils Guided Fieldtrips
The August 1 fossil trip will be collecting unique marine fossil
shells and corals from the Stewartville member of the Galena formation
in two individual quarries near the towns of Fountain and Wykoff,
Minnesota. It will meet at 9:30 AM at the intersection of Routes #5 and
#80 – one mile south of Wykoff. The August 2 trip will be collecting
marine fossil shells from the Late Devonian Period in Rockfort, Iowa..
It will meet at 10:00 AM in the east parking area of the Floyd County
Fossil and Prairie Park (formerly the Rockford Brick and Tile Company
quarry and kilm site).
Cost for these $20 (children under 12 can attend the August 2 event for
$10). Drop by ZRS at 3018 Lyndale Ave. or call 612-824-1068 to get more
details and to register.
August 2nd: Sunday Brunch, at Midtown Global Market
11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, 920 E. Lake St.
Each Sunday, a chef from a Midtown Global Market restaurant will
prepare and sell brunch in the Market's Central Plaza. This weekend,
brunch is served by Cafe Finspang.
August 2nd: Sister's Day, at Longfellow Grill

Celebrate Sister's Day with your sister at Longfellow Grill and get a

August 7th - 9th: Uptown and Powderhorn Art Fairs
Featuring both local and international artists, where millions of

& Quinn 15th Anniversary Celebration
