County & City project staff discuss the latest construction updates and listen and respond to business concerns.

July 10th: Longfellow Business Association Meeting
8:30 - 9:30 AM, 3000 Minnehaha Ave. (3rd Precinct Meeting Room)
This meeting will address empty storefronts and hot to actively recruit new businesses to Longfellow. Gary Schiff will discuss the initiatives being developed to address the empty storefronts citywide. Then, Tim Drew, Minneapolis Traffic and Parking Services will talk about parking meters at 27th & Lake.

July 12th: Hi-Lake Wells Fargo Grand Opening Reception

Face painting and balloons, free tacos for lunch, and a ribbon cutting ceremony starting at 11:00.

July 19th: Bicycle Tour of Historic Longfellow Parks and Grain Milling Sites
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Starting at 29th Ave. & Lake St.
As part of the Minneapolis Aquatennial celebration of Minneapolis’ and Minnesota’s sesquicentennial, the Longfellow Community Council is sponsoring a history bicycle tour. The tour focuses on the western part of the neighborhood, starting at 29th Avenue and East Lake and ending at Minnehaha Park. Call LCC at 612-722-4529 for more information.

July 19th: Lake Street Festival, presented by Latino Communications Network

A one-day music festival that celebrates the contribution Latino cultures have made to the area.

July 19th: Bike Cop Program Fundraiser

July 20th: First Annual Chiang Banger Concert, at Chiang Mai Thai

10 local bands will perform at this free outdoor event, open to all ages, with fresh spring rolls, satays, hamburgers and hot dogs available for purchase.

July 26th: "Decorate the Well in Gratitude" Water Carnival and Street Fair, at In the Heart of the Beast

Puppet shows, wishing wells, art installations, creative art-making activities, interactive displays and games for all ages, with the dedication ceremony starting at 3:00 PM.
