- MetroIBA is holding
a Twitter training session on August 26th and again on
September 16th, and Lake Street Council members can attend for
the $35 rate. See the short description below and download
the flier from our website for all the details. Several Lake
Street businesses are on Twitter now, such as Midtown Global Market,
Longfellow Grill,
Magers & Quinn,
and Bryant Lake Bowl,
as is Lake Street Council under the Visit Lake Street
brand.
Learn how to grow your business using Twitter in this working session
with Zack Steven, social media pioneer and co-founder of
BuyTheChange.com and LocalTweeps.com. You will create or enhance your
Twitter profile, learn how to connect with new and existing customers
and practice posting updates and sending messages. You’ll also get
insight into Twitter terminology, best practices for businesses and
time-saving resources.
- Our Uptown is reporting
that Frattallone's Ace Hardware is planning to open a new
store in October at 27th & Hennepin, at what was previously Checker
Auto. It will be their 15th store. Frattallone's also has a location at
39th & Lake, which opened last year.
- New cost estimates make it look
increasingly likely that the proposed Southwest LRT line
will take a route that goes by Cedar Lake and through Kenilworth,
instead of going through the Uptown area.
- The Twin Cities Daily Planet gave
a nice review to Open Eye Figure Theatre's play Flight,
which just wrapped up this past Monday.
- And finally, for a fun read, check
out TD Mischke, who tells a story about Marshall Ave. & Lake
Street to represent what he sees as the difference between St. Paul
& Minneapolis.
