August 24th: Midtown Greenway Coalition's Progressive Dinner Party
Appetizers at Old Arizona, main course at Pi, dessert at the home of Jim Davnie & Cara Letofsky.

August 24th & 25th: Elements in Translation, at Patrick's Cabaret
8:00 PM, 3010 Minnehaha Ave.
Sample local urban talent, done with local urban style. Choreography set to music, freestyling with live drumming, spoken word, and vocals with live instrumentation & recorded beats.

August 25th: Segrilicous: Soul Food Gathering and Performances, at Obsidian Arts
8:00 PM, 2948 Chicago Ave. S. - Suite 220
Segrelicious is "a multi-media, poly-racial-gender, corpus-delecti of poetry, performance, and artistic experimentation." It runs until October 25th.

August 27th: Free Commercial Lease Seminar, sponsored by NDC and Fredrickson & Byron
6:00 - 7:00 PM, 1516 East Lake Street - Suite 202 (Plaza Verde)
For those who need a commercial space or would like to change locations. Discussing aspects of leasing such as different types of rent used in retail space, operating expenses, and how to protect yourself from unwanted and unwarranted costs. Dicsussion time will follow the presentation.

September 18th: Grand Opening of "Right On Lake Street"
6:00 - 9:00 PM, 345 Kellogg Blvd. W. (Minnesota Historical Society, in St. Paul)
Various music, theatrical performances, food samplings, and more throughout the evening. Exhibit continues through March 9th.

September 22nd: Southside Community Festival and Get Out the Vote Celebration
11:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 3400 4th Ave. S. (Green Central Park)
Rescheduled from August because of weather. A community event with the purpose of bringing neighbors together; increasing awareness of city, state, and community resources; and encouraging partnerships between neighbors and organizations.

September 27th - 30th: Explorations in Flamenco, at Intermedia Arts
8:00 PM Thursday - Saturday, 7:00 PM Sunday, 2822 Lyndale Ave.S.
Intermedia Arts and Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre present Explorations in Flamenco, a night of exciting new dance pieces by flamenco choreographers and dancers. Part I: Hiroshima—A Night Dreamt and a Day Flashed to Burn; Part II: Tia (Auntie).


Through October: Sacred Beauty: Treasures from Swedish Cathedrals and Churches, at The American Swedish Institute
2600 Park Ave.
A series of four related exhibits share the experiences of Swedish-American faith traditions. The first is "Sacred Beauty: The Augustana Lutheran Tradition." It includes metalwork, textiles, photographs, documents, furniture and more.
