August 9th: 34th Annual Cornfeed at Longefellow Park
5:30 - 8:00 PM, 3435 36th Ave. S.
Activities include live music, art projects, Longfellow neighborhood history & photographs, community business & information booths, and more.

August 10th: Twin Cities Black Film Festival Kick-Off, at Midtown Global Market
6:00 - 9:30 PM, 920 East Lake Street
“Uptown Saturday Night,” starring Bill Cosby, Calvin Lockhart and Sidney Poitier will begin at 8:00. Guests are being invited to come for dinner at the Market before the film. Film passes, day paasses, and 3-day passes are available. More information available at www.tcbff.com.

August 11th: Smitten Kitten’s 4th Birthday Celebration & Community Fundraiser
All day, 3010 Lyndale Ave. S.
20% of all proceeds on this day will be donated to Family Tree Clinic, a non-profit sexual health care clinic in St. Paul.

Sample local urban talent, done with local urban style. Choreography set to music, freestyling with live drumming, spoken word, and vocals with live instrumentation & recorded beats.

Through October: Sacred Beauty: Treasures from Swedish Cathedrals and Churches, at The American Swedish Institute

A series of four related exhibits share the experiences of Swedish-American faith traditions. The first is "Sacred Beauty: The Augustana Lutheran Tradition." It includes metalwork, textiles, photographs, documents, furniture and more.
