Palace of the End is composed of three monologues, all based on factual people and events, whose characters and words are imagined by the playwright. It recently received the 2009 Amnesty International Freedom of Expression award at this summer’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a prize that recognizes productions of excellent artistic merit that build understanding and engagement of human rights.

Suzanne Koepplinger, Executive Director of the Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center will be speaking about the alarming trend of American Indian women and girls being sexually trafficked in much higher numbers than other ethnicities.

September 26th: Yarn Spinning Demonstration & Book Reading, at Ingebretsen's

>From 1:00 - 3:30, Detta Juusola of Detta’s Spindle will demonstrate spinning dog hair into yarn. She also has some hands-on materials for children and adults who want to try their hand at spinning for themselves. From 3:30 - 5:00, Jan Zita Grover, author of A Home for Dakota will read from her book. A Home for Dakota is the story of a shelter dog and the young girl who realizes that she capable to taking care of a dog with many challenges. The artist’s model for Dakota will be joining Jan.

: "North Woods River" Author Discussion, at Magers & Quinn

Eileen McMahon and Theodore Karamanski discuss their book, North Woods River: The St. Croix River in Upper Midwest History. North Woods River is a thoughtful biography of the river over the course of more than three hundred years. Eileen McMahon and Theodore Karamanski track the river’s social and environmental transformation as newcomers changed the river basin and, in turn, were changed by it. The history of the St. Croix revealed here offers larger lessons about the future management of beautiful and fragile wild waters.

September 27th: Sunday Brunch, at Midtown Global Market

Each Sunday, a chef from a Midtown Global Market restaurant will prepare and sell brunch in the Market's Central Plaza. This week's brunch comes from Salty Tart.

September 27th - October 2nd: Restaurant Week
Participating restaurants will present specially priced meals (lunch, dinner, or both) that showcase their culinary offerings in the local dining scenes. Lake Street area restaurants are participating, including moto-i, Herkimer, Amore Victoria, Stella's Fish Cafe, and Sushi Tango.

October 2nd & 3rd: Mark The Encounter, at Open Eye Figure Theatre
7:30 PM, 506 E. 24th St.
Mark The Encounter is a new one-man show written and performed by Chris Sullivan. His performance work explores the positions of power in one on one communications, and specifically the notion of submission and control, particularly as related to the dynamics of family, and in relationships of love and hate.   In this work, five characters all played by Sullivan, are presented in twelve “acts”.

October 2nd & 3rd: Kinetic Kitchen, at Patrick's Cabaret

Presented by Sarah LaRose-Holland. Featuring: Denise Armstead’s DAdance, David DeBlieck’s Wicked Sister Dance Theatre, Julie Warder, and Christopher Yaeger’s Dance Hall Days.

October 4th: Taste of Lake Street, at Midtown Global Market
1:00 - 5:00 PM, 920 E. Lake St.
Savor fantastic food tastings from 40 Lake Street area restaurants plus wine & beer tastes.  Tickets $25 in advance ($30 at the door) and include all Food and Beverage "tastes". Entertainment by local musicians, wine auction and games. Fabulous raffle prizes, door prizes and more! All proceeds go to Minneapolis food shelves.

Starring Alayne Hopkins and Sam Bardwell. The year is 1914, and a young bride-to-be dreams one last night of love and war.
