Lake Street Council's
mission is to build a cohesive strategy to ensure the ongoing vitality
of the Lake Street Corridor business community.
The Latest on
Lake:
Lake Street Council has several events coming up
very soon. First, we hope you'll join us for our next Lake Street
business social, coming up on September 19th from 4:30 - 6:00 PM at
It's Greek To Me, on the corner of Lyndale & Lake. This
is a great opportunity to network and get to know your Lake Street
neighbors.
A
few weeks after that is the third in our series of marketing panel
discussions. This one's happening on October 9th from 8:00 -
10:30 AM at Patrick's Cabaret, 3010 Minnehaha Ave. The series has progressed
from advertising advice to media relationships and will conclude with
business-to-business marketing and PR advice. We have invited area business
owners who have demonstrated sound marketing and PR plans that have produced
profits. Reservations can be made now on our website,
with discounts for Lake Street Council or Longfellow Business Association
members. Reserve your spot today!
Now that it's September, high
schools are back open and the Lake Street
Ambassadorshave finished up for the year. We had eight kids this
year, our most ever, and we estimate that they picked up over 700 bags' worth
of trash over the past three months. They were featured on both KARE 11
and KSTP,
and got to meet Mayor Rybak and a lot of the business owners here on Lake
Street. We thank all who were involved with the program this summer, and
remind everyone that keeping Lake Street clean is a year-long
event!
Good news at the Midtown Global Market,
as Andy's Garage is back in business, serving burgers, fries,
malts, and other classic American foods. Also be sure to try their homemade
potato chips, which they've had out for sampling
recently.
"If you were to seriously try to eat your way down
Lake Street, from Lake Calhoun to the Mississippi River, you could spend a
lifetime and never succeed in completing the task," says Jeremy
Iggers. He recommends the "much more realistic goal" of attending
the Taste of
Lake Street event this Saturday at Lake & Elliot. And of
course the other big event this weekend is the Mexican Independence
Day celebration on Sunday. Check the calendar below for more
details.
