September 10th: Lake Street Construction Meeting
2:00 PM, 105 West Lake Street (Champions)
County & City project staff discuss the latest construction updates and listen and respond to business concerns.

September 10th: The Rabbit Show, at Bryant Lake Bowl
7:00 PM, 810 West Lake Street
"This one-hour cabaret-style showcase offers a wide variety of short dances by John Munger's Third Rabbit Dance Ensemble and by guest artists representing the rich diversity of Twin Cities dance. With humor, excitement and clarity, this is thoughtful dance for real people."

September 11th: Southwest LRT Information Meeting
12:00 - 1:15 PM, 3100 Hennepin Ave. (Calhoun Square)
"Learn more about the Hennepin county study that is looking into the possibility of connecting the southwest suburbs to Downtown Minneapolis, through Uptown. The project is entering the Draft Environmental Impact Statement phase and your participation is encouraged."

September 11th: World Peace Day, at Midtown Global Market
12:00 - 8:00 PM, 920 East Lake Street
"Join us for a community celebration with people from all walks of life under one roof." Storytellers, vocalists, local Hare Krishna and Buddhist communities and others will be there.

Beginning September 12th: Bad Jazz in Tickled Pink, at Open Eye Figure Theatre
506 E. 24th St.
"Conceived on the banks of the Mississippi River in 1983,  Tickled Pink, serves up the old familiar with three men playing to the best of their abilities, both rare and well done."

September 13th: Ingebretsen's Scandinavian Festival, at Midtown Farmers' Market
8:00 AM - 1:00 PM, corner of 22nd Ave. & East Lake St.
"Come celebrate Scandinavian heritage!  Back by popular demand, Ingebretsen's will be here to offer you Lefse Dogs, live music from different parts of Scandinavia, and merchandise from Ingebretsen's Scandinavian Gifts and Food."


September 13th: Minneapolis Rotary Club's Taste of Lake Street
3:00 - 7:00 PM, corner of Lake St. & Elliot Ave.
Over a dozen Lake Street restaurants participating. Ticket and raffle proceeds go to Minneapolis food shelves.

September 13th: Rock For Democracy Block Party, at Bryant Lake Bowl
4:00 - 10:00 PM, corner of Lake St. & Bryant Ave.

September 13th & 14th: Do Haath (A Pair of Hands), at Pangea World Theater
7:00 - 9:00 PM, 711 West Lake Street
"When Ram Autar is drafted to clean the latrines for the soldiers at war, the ways of his newly-wed wife, Gori, create an uproar in the household and the neighborhood where she and her mother-in-law live and work." Free and open to the public.

September 14th
: Mexican Independence Day Celebration
12:00 - 6:00 PM, 4th & Lake
An 11:30 parade from Bloomington Ave. to 3rd Ave. followed by a celebration featuring many local Latino businesses,  food vendors, schools, churches and nonprofit organizations serving the Latino community. 20,000 - 25,000 people are expected to attend.

September 16th: Two Chairs Telling, at Open Eye Figure Theatre
7:30 PM, 506 E. 24th St.
Nationally recognized as a teller of Appalachian and Texas women's stories, Elizabeth Ellis, combines the personal, the humorous and a razor sharp sense of justice in her stories. She joins the Grande Dame of the Twin Cities' African American storytelling community, Nothando Zulu, for an evening of "truth telling women getting down to it."
