Metro Transit Route 21 Hop + Shop

Look for this logo at participating businesses!

Lake Street Council is pleased to partner with Metro Transit to bring you the Route 21 Hop and Shop program. It has started and is now ongoing!

Check out Metro Transit's 21 Hop + Shop page for an interactive map and guide to the program. A complete list of all participating businesses is also available here.

What is it?

The 21 bus runs along the entire length of Lake Street, with stops every couple blocks. As such, it offers the perfect way to get around for a day of shopping, dining, and entertainment at Lake Street's many diverse and unique businesses. The Hop & Shop program takes this one step further and rewards you for riding the bus. Experience all Lake Street has to offer without needing to spend the entire day looking for the right parking spot every time you switch shops, and get discounts for doing so!

The 21 Hop & Shop bus stops outside the Global Market at Chicago & Lake. The Global Market has over a dozen businesses inside that are participating.

How can I participate?

Once the program rolls out, participation will be easy. Simply show your Metro Transit pass at the time of purchase at any participating business and receive their special discount. Use any of the following passes:

  • Valid 31-Day pass
  • Valid Stored Value Card
  • Metropass
  • U-Pass
  • Go-To Card
  • Current transfer
A light rail train departs from the Lake Street/Midtown station at Hiawatha & Lake. Light rail offers an easy way to get to Lake Street from downtown Minneapolis, as well as from southern locations like Fort Snelling.

Which businesses offer a discount?

At the current time, over 80 Lake Street business locations have signed on to offer discounts to Metro Transit customers. They are spread out all along the Lake Street corridor and include everything from restaurants to plays, from bicycles to bowling! Once you know where you want to go, use Metro Transit's Trip Planner or call them at 612-373-3333 to find out exactly how to get there on the bus.
