Art & Placemaking

Creative Placemaking on Lake Street

The Lake Street Council leads and participates in several initiatives to bring more public art and space activations to bring life and vitality to the corridor. We aim to create a stronger sense of place along Lake Street by drawing attention to the community’s significant cultural assets, including arts and cultural organizations, public art, gathering places, and the diverse set of businesses.

Public art attracts additional visitors and residents to Lake Street, growing the customer base for local businesses. It also can highlight the stories and values of small businesses, including the immigration stories and cultures of families who have made Lake Street home. Art and activation can increase community safety and the perception of safety.
